What "buying a Dota 2 account" means and who needs it

Buying a Dota 2 account is a way to get a ready-made profile with a known MMR, medal and history. No need to grind 500+ hours from scratch and go through a random calibration — you drop straight into the bracket you want. It's popular with smurfs (playing with friends below your rank without hurting your main), newcomers (starting right at Archon, skipping the pain of low lobbies), rerollers (switching accounts after a botched calibration instead of farming for six months) and streamers (a separate profile for content).

Types of Dota 2 accounts — kinds and differences

The shop has four main categories. Knowing the difference saves money and nerves:

• Calibrated — the MMR is already set, the medal and stars show in the profile. Buy it, log in and play. Right if you need a specific rank right now.
• With binding — the account is bound to its stated rating: to reach the listed MMR you play the 100 game hours yourself (0 of 100). The cheapest option if price matters.
• Low-rank smurfs — Herald, Guardian, Crusader. Bought to play with friends on low MMR or for content. Prices are minimal.
• Top-tier (Divine, Immortal) — one-off positions, made to order. Full history, genuine activity, no suspicious stats. Price is individual.

How much a Dota 2 account costs — 2026 price benchmarks

The price depends on MMR, whether the first email is included, a clean behavior score and the account's age. Below are our catalog prices — the calculator on this page and the cart use the same formula.

• With binding (clean, 1 MMR) — $9. Fresh account bound to a rating; you play the 100 game hours to the stated MMR yourself. The 3,000 MMR variant is $10.
• Herald (0–770 MMR) — $36–39. Smurfs for low-bracket lobbies.
• Guardian–Crusader (770–2,310) — $39–50. The bulk of smurf accounts.
• Archon (2,310–3,080) — $50–57. The most popular range among buyers.
• Legend (3,080–3,850) — $57–65. Mid-level with predictable mechanics.
• Ancient–Divine (3,850–5,420) — $65–79. Serious accounts, one-off stock.
• Immortal (5,420+) — from $79; above 8,000 MMR it is from $226 and made to order, 7–14 days.

With-binding accounts cost 4–6 times less than ready ones in the same MMR range: $10 against about $56 at 3,000 MMR. You play the difference yourself — those 100 game hours.

What the "first email" is and why to demand it

The first email is the address the Steam account was linked to at registration. With full access to it you can change the password, phone and linked email with no 7-day delay — in other words, fully transfer the account to yourself. Without the first email, the former owner could in theory restore access through Steam Support by providing old receipts and registration details. We always hand over the first email, because we build the accounts ourselves from scratch.

Where we get our accounts — behind the scenes

Accounts are built by our team: we register Steam and prepare the account for its stated rating by hand (no bots, no auto-clickers). The 100 game hours to the rating are played by the buyer. Everything is checked for VAC, Low Priority, restrictions and bans — only after that does it reach the shop. We never resell accounts from private individuals: someone else's history means someone else's risks.

Is it safe to buy a Dota 2 account

The short answer is yes, if you follow a few basic rules. Buying accounts technically violates the Steam Subscriber Agreement, but Valve has no automated systems for detecting a change of owner. In practice the risk is minimal: in 5 years and 500 accounts sold — not a single ban among clients. What to do right after purchase:

• Change the Steam password and email via the first email.
• Enable Steam Guard on your own phone.
• Change the profile name and avatar — don't leave obvious resale traces.
• Don't use the account in official tournaments with identity verification.

How long to wait for delivery

Ready accounts and "with binding" — instantly: once payment is confirmed, the login, password and first-email access appear in the protected panel on the order page. Replacement guarantee and refunds

If within 30 days of purchase the account gets banned through no fault of your own (that is, not because of cheats, toxicity, item selling or being on the receiving end of smurfing reports for your own play), we'll replace it with an equivalent one or refund the full price. Renting vs buying — which to pick

Renting an account (from $1/hour) is for a one-off experience: see how high MMR feels, test a hero in the right bracket, play 1–2 matches with friends. Access lasts for the session only, with no ownership rights.

Buying makes sense when you need a permanent profile: a smurf for regular play, a second account for content, a replacement for your main after a botched calibration. It pays for itself within 10–15 sessions compared with renting.

Can you play with friends on a purchased account

You can, with one caveat: play at a level that matches your rating. If the account is Archon but your real level is Herald, party games with Herald friends will quickly earn smurfing reports and temporary restrictions. If your level roughly matches the account's rank, there's no problem. After purchase you can change your Steam profile name and Dota nickname — friends won't tell the difference.

I bought an account — what should I do first?

1. Log into Steam via the first email (access to it comes with the login/password). 2. Change the Steam password. 3. Set up Steam Guard on your own phone. 4. Switch the email to your own via the first email. 5. Change the profile name and avatar. 6. Launch Dota 2 — play.

The account arrived but Dota won't launch — what now?

In 99% of cases this is Steam's first launch from a new IP — the client asks for email verification. Open the first email (you have access), copy the code, enter it in Steam. If that doesn't help, message a manager and we'll sort it in 5 minutes.

Can you play on a purchased account in Faceit or Esea?

Technically yes, but we don't recommend it for tournaments with passport verification. For regular matchmaking, ranked leagues without identity confirmation and streaming, there are no restrictions.
